United drew 1-1 with Shrivenham last night at Marriotts Stadium to clinch runners-up spot in the Hellenic Reserve Division Two West division with Kevin Brooks grabbing the goal.
27.04.08 HAZELL SWEET AS NUT FOR UNITED!!
Youngster Calum Hazell struck the only goal of the game as United overcame local rivals Clanfield 1-0 to keep a grip on 2nd place.

United bounced back from their drubbing in the League Cup at the weekend when they overcame Ardley United 8-0 with goals from Mike Wyatt (4), Jon-Paul Hannaway (2) (1 pen), Kevin Brooks and John McMahon.
21.04.08 RESSIES HUMBLED IN RETURN LEG!!
A disastrous opening to the second leg of the League Cup semi-final left United shellshocked and eventually succumb to a 7-1 thrashing at Shrivenham on Saturday.
After just three minutes United were 2-0 down and 5-1 on aggregate and although Kevin Brooks pulled a goal back on the quarter hour mark a further goal before half-time left United four goals down overall.
The second half saw United crumble and conced four further goals suffering by far their heaviest defeat of the season and going out 10-2 on aggregate.

The Reserves were luft frustrated last night in the First Leg of the Semi-Final of the League Cup when they went down 3-1 to Shrivenham at Marriotts Stadium.
For an hour United werent at their best and found themselves 3-0 down but then a thunderous strike from Neil Lyford flew into the net at pace with such power that it bounced back out. With the Shrivenham players heading to take the kick off the referee stunned everybody by awarding a goal-kick!
This only served to fire United up and they eventually pulled a goal back through Stefan Lang but are left with a difficult task to overturn in the second leg on Saturday week.

28.02.08 RESSIES GET CUP SEMI FATE!!
United's Reserves today learnt their fate for the semi-final of the Reserves Challenge Cup following their fine victory over Wootton Bassett Town.
They will be up against the winners of the Henley Town and Shrivenham tie which is due to be played on Tuesday March 11th.
No dates have yet been set for the semi-final fixtures.

United overcame Easington Sports for the third time this season winning 3-1 at Marriotts Stadium in a match overshadowed by an injury to Nathan Harris.
Harris went down in a heap after just two minutes holding his knee and turns out he has dislocated his knee.
United were then indebted to a penalty save from Paul Davis before they took the lead through Stefan Lang. The visitors did equalise but further goals from Mike Wyatt and Ricky King gave United another victory.

United pulled off a shock yesterday to clinch a place in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup when they overcame Division One opponenents Wootton Bassett Town 3-1.
They took an early lead through Shaun Brown before defender Stefan Lang doubled the advantage. The visitors pulled one back but an excellent strike by Jon-Paul Hannaway sent United through.

Jon-Paul Hannaway gave United a half-time lead before the home side saw their goalkeeper sent off for handling outside his area.
The goals started to flow and goals from Joe Edney (3), Ricky King (2) and Jed Riddy completing the rout. One man missing this afternoon was manager Neil Lyford who slipped this morning and had to be taken to hospital with a suspected broken wrist.

The Reserves reward for overcoming Bicester Town in the League Cup is another home tie but against league leaders Highworth Town.
Highworth are the only side to defeat United so far winning 3-1 at Marriotts Stadium on the opening day so United will be keen for revenge.
Meanwhile the league clash with Bicester Town on Saturday 15th December has been put back a week to the 22nd December.

An extra time goal from Lee Moseley clinched United a 3-2 win over Easington Sports in the Oxon Intermediate Cup.
Jon-Paul Hannaway gave United a first half lead but two goals after the break put the home side in front before Jonny Fletcher took the game to extra-time and the late winner.
United will now travel to Headington Amateurs in the 3rd Round.

United clinched a place in the 2nd Round of the Faringdon Cup after a dramatic 8-7 penalties win against Childrey United last night.
The game had finished 3-3 after 90 minutes with goals from OG, Lee Moseley and Pete Horswell. They will now face the winners of Lambourn Sports or Steventon in the next round.

A goal 10 minutes from time from Mark Simms gave a Witney United X1 a hard fought 2-1 win at Oxon Senior League side Chadlington last night.
United had taken the lead through Lee Moseley before the home side equalised only for Simms to net the winner ten minutes from time.
12-07-07 away trip in faringdon Cup!!
United's Reserves have been drawn away in the 1st Round of the annual Faringdon Cup which is played pre-season.
They will be away to North Berks 3rd Division side Childrey United on Monday 6th August with a 6-30pm kick off.
The winners will be at home to either Lambourn Sports or Steventon on Monday 13th August

United's Reserves face an away trip to fellow Division Two West opponents Cricklade Town in the Hellenic Challenge Cup.
In the two meetings last season Cricklade ran out winners on both occassions winning 3-1 at Cricklade and 2-0 at Marriotts Stadium on the last day of the season.
The winners of that will be at home to Bicester Town in the 1st Round.

They will travel to Oxon Senior Premier League side Berinsfield on Saturday 4th August with a 3-00pm kick off.

The Reserves have had their first friendly of the season confirmed last night.
They will travel to North Berks League side Faringdon Town on Saturday 11th August with a 3-00pm kick off.
18-06-07 lyford returns to ressies job!!
United can today announce that Neil Lyford has agreed to return to the club as manager of the Reserves.
Kevin Brooks stood down at the end of last season and United were keen to move fast and are delighted to announce that Lyford has agreed to return. In his previous spell in charge he led the reserves to a 2nd place finish with an excellent mixture of experience and youngsters.
He is keen to use the majority of youngsters who played for the side last season but has said that all players will be welcome old and new and those interested should contact him on 07740 030768.
In an added boost Brooks has agreed to remain and will work as Assistant Manager to Lyford for the forthcoming season
